I’m an award-winning journalist who builds new ways for newsrooms to reach their audiences.

I’m the deputy managing editor for Digital Strategy & Transformation at Maine Trust for Local News (METLN). I oversee social video, news innovation and our longer-term work to strengthen newsroom systems and our audience funnel. Day to day, that means running the Portland Press Herald’s YouTube and Instagram and making short-form vertical video.

I’m currently in Cohort 6 of the News Product Management Certification, where my capstone is a product strategy for vertical fact-check video.

Before METLN, my most recent project was making a new show called The Disagreement with Alex Grodd.

For a while, I was also writing a Substack called One Good Listen.

I’ve also made work for The Chicago Tribune, NBC News & MSNBC, Audible, Vox, Netflix, Pineapple, and more.

Shows I’ve contributed to have been written about in The New York Times, NPR, The Guardian, BBC, MSNBC, and recognized with local and national awards.

My students call me passionate. My colleagues call me effusive. My cats don’t know what podcasts are.

And I think a lot about the power of a good gimmick.
